Islamic Awareness Week 2009

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over a white - except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belogs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefore do injustice to yourselves.

Islamic Awareness Week: Intro

Muslims? Islam?

Muslims are arguably one of the most pluralistic communities in the world today. With over one billion followers in every country, there is great diversity amongst the peoples, proving that Islam is a religion adaptable to all cultures and societies. Often however, Muslims and Islam is construed as something foreign, different, and incomprehensible. Within Canada, the discourse surrounding Muslims certainly attests to this misunderstanding. With so many voices speaking on Islam's behalf, the question is: Where is the Muslim voice?

Come visit the lower ceilidh of the John Deutsch University Centre from February 9 to 13 to witness and partake in an awesome display outlining CONFESSIONS OF MUSLIMS. Also come to have tea, refreshments, and dates and relax in our very own Common Ground of understanding.
The week will also consist of several events.

Assalamu alaikum // Peace be upon you.
